New Art Club was formed in 2001 by Tom Roden and Pete Shenton and is fuelled by their shared spirit of adventure. Loved by audiences and critics alike, they create work which is a unique and beautifully engineered blend of physical and verbal lunacy.Since winning the Edinburgh Spotlight Best Comedy Award for Big Bag of Boom in 2010 they have had an unbroken two years of success garnering praise from critics and audiences alike in the UK and abroad.

The Notcracker

In 1999, New Art Club (formerly Air Dance Company) wanted to make a Christmas show. The idea was to do a re-working of The Nutcracker, but have you seen it? It’s terrible, there isn’t anything to re-work. Instead, Tom and Pete made a christmas show and it’s being revived at gDA this year, which is more than you can say for The Nutcracker (which is probably on at Covent Garden). a christmas show is a collection of songs and dances that tell the story of an aspirant angel that fails to graduate from Angel College. Sharp choreography, an unfortunate game of charades and an extremely unhelpful Ghost of Christmas Present, New Art Club’s a christmas show is an alternative to traditional Christmas theatrical fayre. The show will not be suitable for children as it will feature festive swearing and perhaps some festival nudity, but then you could always take them to The Nutcracker that features a soldier that isn’t a soldier, he’s a nutcracker... like we said, terrible Greenwich Dance Agency
