The Oxford Lieder Festival will celebrate its 21st birthday this autumn, coming of age in a fortnight that focuses on song as an intimate art form with its origins in friendship and conviviality. An astonishing array of artists will appear in around 80 events, encompassing the great works of the repertoire alongside new works and exciting discoveries. World-leading singers appearing at the Festival include Dame Sarah Connolly, Christoph Prégardien, Kate Royal, Carolyn Sampson, Camilla Tilling, Dorothea Röschmann, Roderick Williams, Birgid Steinberger, Thomas Oliemans, Claire Booth, Benjamin Appl, Christopher Purves, and James Gilchrist, amongst many others. Mark Padmore will be Artist in Residence. Singers appearing for the first time include Lestyn Davies, Christine Rice, Werner Güra, Sarah Wegener and Julian Prégardien. The cream of the new generation will also be showcased through the latest cohort of Oxford Lieder Young Artists, and with singers including Marie-Laure Garnier, Hugh Cutting, Stuart Jackson, Jessica Cale and Helen Charlston.
