T1477985432This radical reinterpretation of Gilgamesh, the oldest story in the world, is high-energy, brutal and multi-layered theatre. Three actors in a seven metre-long dirt pit wrestle and roll through four tonnes of earth. Using action figures and Matchbox toy tanks, they retell the 5000 year-old story of tyrannical ruler Gilgamesh and his destructive friend Enkidu. It's a richly imaginative world of gods, kings, rappers and wrestlers, conjured up through a riotous form of child's play. Epic theatre, played out on a tiny scale, with a thrash metal soundtrack. Supported by the Australia Council for the Arts, Arts Victoria and Arts Projects Australia. Running time 80mins/no intervalCompany Uncle Semolina (and Friends). Director Phil Rolfe. Director Christian Leavesley. Performer Richard Pyros. Performer Mark Tregonning. Performer Katherine Tonkin. | |
