Erica Woof's remarkable novel Mud Puppy will be published in in February by Women's Press. A magic realist novel set in Newport, it takes its cue form the 'miraculous discovery of a large American salamander in the River Usk.' The creature is sometimes described as a mud puppy after the unproven belief that it barks like a dog.
