Well that's a fun evening, and what a lot of talent on stage from such young performers. Annie is a bit of a strange one, based on a newspaper strip and set in 1930's depression America it even features Franklin D Roosevelt. A basic feel-good musical with some lovely songs and a wonderful villain in Miss Hannigan.
There was plenty of energy and variety on stage and the section set in amongst the homeless included some fascinating choreography that I really enjoyed. American accents were a bit cringeworthy and, whilst amazingly clear, the young voices are so amplified that they can feel a bit harsh after a while. None the less, this is an evening to enjoy.
To be honest, Craig Revel-Horwood seems to be having way too much fun, not that he ever lets that overshadow his performance or his young co-stars - he is just perfectly pitched and very entertaining. As for Amber, playing Sandy (the dog!), brilliant, just brilliant ...
Good fun
