What an amazing evening of dance from this talented company (well, pair!). Loosely overlaying Max Richter's re-composed Four Seasons with a story of both the annual cycle and the cycle of universes seems like a huge ask, but it works well, assisted by some imaginative and effective lighting.
Whilst the narrative of the piece is loose, leaving us to each experience the peice differently, for me Sarah Jane Taylor represented the "energy" and James Wilton the "objects" as they interacted, merged, split and changed. Some absolutely beautiful images are created as thet move together, especially through the imaginative "arm-ology" but it is Sarah's fluidity that I will remember most - at times she appears to have bones of rubber, her arms and legs curving and stretching in ways both mesmerising and slightly un-nerving.
Apparently this was the first dance in The Drum in 20 years, and James had been a young dancer in the audience of the previous show - great to see more artistic diversity returning to the TRP.
A lovely evening.
