Vincent Cassar's sad, funny, thought provoking play is the tale of an eccentric loner who is mistakenly imprisoned for the cruel slaughter of a young girl. Identified as the most probable suspect by locals and police alike, Conrad Kordover (not his real name!) is an easy victim made more vulnerable by his need for affection and his 'odd' behaviour. Not a nice man, Conrad is still set-up and loses both his freeedom and any self-respect he had managed to cobble together.
Looking with humour at a really complex subject, Vincent Cassar's play balances skillfully the emotions involved and Ben Tinniswood's performance is, a the same time, both sympathetic and creepy - you can understand why he is seen as a suspect but at the same time see how wrong such judgements are.
A complex evening that left me asking lots of questions; though I suspect not all the ones the writer and director had in mind ... somehow, for me, it didn't gel quite enough ...
