So Help Me Dog

Thrillingly original work - a breath of fresh air amongst the earnest theatrical lectures I've found myself seeing over the past couple of years. This deserves a wide audience.

The School for Scandal
2nd Jun 24 :: 5

Saw it last night at Darlington, it was the last night and the audience was a bit down. The actors however gave their all and as I have no previous experience of the play it took a while to work out who the characters were. There were some very funny moments and as I could work out who was who it was more enjoyable. Would I recommend it... of course I would... it's a great piece of live theatre well performed by excellent actors. I see a lot of live theatre... I wish more people would go along it's better value than a football game and a lot more fun... and no one got sent off!!!!

So Help Me Dog
2nd Jun 24 :: 5 So Help Me Dog" is a must-see, offering a profound and entertaining theatrical experience with excellent performances and a well-crafted storyline. The play expertly balanced humor, music, and heartfelt drama, evoking both laughter and tears. Excellent value at the Hen & Chicken we had a fabulous evening.
Dionne Warwick - Don't Make Me Over
19th May 24 :: 1

I could understand if this show was half songs and half documentary. It would make it a lot more interesting. But to have a 10% songs and 90% self-indulgent and self-praising chat with a guy on the couch bigging up Dionne and fawning over her was a waste of money. Additionally one of Dionne's song was totally mullered compared to its original format- apparently it's called artistic licence but it seemed like destructive licence. Don't waste your money and time.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that your content has been quite helpful for me. My friends from Allthingsaustria recommended your site and I've not been disappointed at all :) Cheers, Mihkael Caron

Madam Butterfly (Madama Butterfly)
5th May 24 :: 5This was a superb performance, we are so lucky that this great company has come to Southend. A very moving rendition of the Ukrainian National Anthem too.
Dionne Warwick - Don't Make Me Over
5th May 24 :: 1I can fully understand she is of advanced years these days but to find this is just a rather dull question and answer session on a sofa, Michael Parkinson style, show with hardly any songs sung. If we all wanted this then we would've tuned into the associated documentary related to this. Left shortly after the start of the second act as more of the sofa chatting started all over again

Fabulous production, very comical, lots of magical illusions and a hugely creative script - theatre at its best!

Rambert Dance Company - Death Trap
25th Apr 24 :: 1

Saw Death Trap this evening at Theatre Royal Newcastle and have never been more disappointed. Wonderful Dancers, Great Musicians BUT leave the acting to actors who we can hear. The nauseating dialogue was a complete distraction from the dance and did the designer go home at half time and leave us with white Y Fronts to distract from the dance? Bring back the spirit of Christopher Bruce, bring back the joy and flair of Dame Marie and be a Dance Company. Do what you do well. The camera work and the MC were an unfunny device that contributed nothing but a distraction. We are now nervous of coming to see Rambert again.

Come from Away

One of my all time favourite shows. I absolutely love it - brilliant and sympathetic story telling

The Fureys
8th Apr 24 :: 1

Having greatly enjoyed the Fureys over many years, and being sympathetic with regards to Paul's death, and Davey's stroke, I feel a bit uncomfortable posting this review. Nevertheless, I saw them last night in Glasgow, and can only describe the overall experience as grim. I hope I can spare others the immense disappointment I experienced.On arrival I was amazed at the number of empty seats. I was soon to realise why!Certainly, there were positives. Most of the musicians, incidentally only 2 of whom were Fureys, were clearly talented,(Of Finbar,I have to say "we missed him,the old man". I had to question though the contribution of the guy on the guitar on the left) Another positive was that some of the old favourites" were good, and well enjoyed. However, I could make out very little of what Eddie was saying, the usual warm lively atmosphere of previous years was gone, there were too many songs that weren't characteristic of the Fureys of old. In conclusion, I feel they should qualify the title of the show in some way e.g. maybe "The Fureys - Eddy,and George with some new faces"As it was, I felt I'd been tempted there under false pretences.
