The drummer is always the crazy one. This show takes that idea and runs like mad. One boy's rapture with drumming is explained almost as a lesson for us. He is an exceptional performer, timing his story to win many laughs and impressing with his music. The character is presumably on some spectrum, being winningly naive. He is so convincing and likeable that we still support him when the story turns dark. I never thought I would enjoy such a solid hour of percussion but he won’t our hearts.
