Hitler's Tasters

4
Seen at the Edinburgh Fringe
By Edfringe19 - 14th Aug 2019

This young, American company bring an intriguing play to the Fringe. Hitler, a vegetarian, had official food tasters, young women expected to taste each meal to see if it was poisoned. o what would it have been like for these girls? What would they discuss as they sat for an hour after each meal to see if any of them would die? How did they approach the "honour" of their role in protecting the father of their country? Cleverly updated so that the girls interact using mobiles, selfies and pop music yet fully grounded in the time of the Third Reich we are able to instantly warm to these characters and their predicament. A curious and thought provoking piece.
