Disney's Aladdin

This is definitely a show for the family, or Disney aficionados, and they really lapped it up. The whole venue was a-buzz with real excitement, before, during and after the show ... Disney's ability to deliver "The Happiest Place on Earth" wherever it goes!

This is Disney Aladdin, sort of a mix between the film and the original story with some stage magic thrown in. It works. A story line strong enough to entertain but not so overpowering that it bores the young ones. The flying carpet and Jafar's changes work particularly well but throughout there is more than enough for both young and old.

With a cast delivering high energy performances throughout, this show really does entertain and the chorus work their socks off - I couldn't believe how few of them there actually were, their costume changes must be managed with military precision!

What a truly sparkly show! Fabulous costumes with so many variations and changes and I doubt that you have ever seen so many diamante on stage, I certainly haven't. Ok, my immediate reaction and abiding memory is actually of the amazing staging of this show, genuinely spectacular costumes, lighting, projections and set used to amazing effect - add to that a live orchestra and you have all the elements for a real treat.

What a fabulous family night out ...

p.s. I did have a small niggle in that some of the entrances from the wings were a bit sloppy - if someone is supposed to appear in the middle of the stage the effect is lost if we see them walk across the back of the stage first, especially if they are not in character. The same can be said for cushions "appearing" from stage left with an arm pushing them on. Just took the edge off an otherwise sparklingly professional show. Oh, and the occasional audience member singing along ...
